Sometimes we get people who ask, “How did you meet?” Here’s our tale.
We technically met online at your site. We both had personals posted there, and Paul responded to mine. That’s the short story.
The longer story is that prior to trying an online personals service, my ex-husband, Bill, sent me four profiles from another site and encouraged me to try the online personals scene. Paul’s ad was one of those four. At the time, I recalled thinking that Paul was pretty cute, but chickened out of signing up and contacting him.
When Paul contacted me via your site, I thought that perhaps there was something to this guy so maybe I should talk to him.
After five months of dating, Paul proposed for the first time. We had been walking around the mall and were stopping back at his apartment. I went to the bathroom and when I came out, I said, “So are you ready to go?” Paul said, “Yup.” At that point, he got down on one knee in front of me, held up a marquise diamond ring and asked, “Rebecca Sue Bowers, will you marry me?” Completely stunned, I initially asked, “Are you serious?” (Paul had proposed many times before, half-jokingly.) Paul simply said, “I’m very serious.” I replied, “Well then I guess I’d better give you a serious answer ... yes.” Since I said yes, Paul placed the ring on my finger, and we hugged tightly and kissed.
Paul re-proposed four months later at an authentic Italian restaurant. The marquise ring had been redesigned, and we thought it would be incredibly neat to propose again in such a romantic setting. We both dressed up, Paul came to pick me up at my apartment, and we went out. Once seated at the restaurant, we were in a back room area that was candlelit. Paul held my hand over the table, opened the box with the redesigned ring, looked into my eyes smiling and softly said, “Will you marry me?” In tears, I smiled and replied, “yes,” at which point, Paul placed the ring on my finger. The rest, as they say, is history. :)
